This page explains what a "Facility" is, and how to set it up to fit your operation in Empower Platform.

First of all, a facility, in Empower, represents a physical location and a natural link in the value chain of the recyclable materials. A facility can be a collection point, a storage building, a recycling factory, or in some cases even an event.

An organization can have one or multiple facilities. The digital setup should represent the physical structure of the organization.

The steps below show how you can add and edit facilities in Empower Platform;

1. Click on "Facilities" in the left side menu

2. To create a new facility, click "Create"

3. Type a name for your new facility

4a. Check the explanation to the next question by clicking on the question mark then decide if you should select "Yes" or "No".

4b. If the facility is a collection point, will you also register supplied transactions?

If you select "Yes" in 4a. above, you will be asked whether or not you will register at this facility materials obtained outside of the collection (plastic credits) scope. Click on the question mark for further explanation to determine whether this apply to your facility.

5. Activate the payment page

Ticking this option enables a payment data registration page for all received and delivered transactions at this facility in Empower Tracking. Payment data for received material is the monetary amount paid to obtain the materials (collection charges or supplier price), while payment data for delivered material is the monetary amount received from the materials offtakers. The payment info relative to any transaction at this facility will not be shared with your suppliers or buyers, but can be used for internal reporting.

The payment page looks like the below in Empower Tracking. Note that you can select the currency and input either a total payment or a payment per kilo. This step is not a required field and can also be skipped.

6. Type the address of your facility

Type the exact address if you have it. If your facility doesn't have an address, you can instead use another location that is close by.

7. Optional: Assign existing users to the facility by clicking "Add"

You can differentiate users between Facility Managers and Members

Read more about the different user roles here.

8. Upload a facility photo (e.g. team photo) if you have one

9. Once all details are filled, click "Save and back"

10. At any time, you can access your facility again to do further edits
