Note: This service requires you to have Product Passport and Digital Twins enabled. Please contact Empower for any questions, or reach out to your assigned contact at Empower.

Pre-requisites:

  • Ensure you have created the Digital Twins for the products in Empower Tracking as described in the steps in this guide.

  • Ensure you've created the Product Passport page that you're connecting the Digital Twins with as described in the steps in this guide.

Please note: The Connect batch option will only be visible for passport listings specified with one single passport, configured in Step 5 "Number of passports" in the Passport creation page article above. This is explained in detail below.

Step 1 - Decide between the regular "connect" or "connect batch" method

In the Product Passport page overview, it's possible to connect the passport to digital twins using the regular Connect or Connect Batch method:

  • When using regular Connect, each digital twin is connected to a unique Product Passport page, meaning you will have a unique QR code for every product. This typically provides the most unique experience and transparency for the end-user / customer.

  • If it's not desirable to handle unique QR codes for every product, you can use the Connect Batch option. This is typically when you're not able to make/print unique QR codes for each product, but rather want to connect a batch of digital twins to a Product Passport using one single QR code and page id, representing the whole batch. Note: In the Connect Batch method case, your number of passports is counted towards the number of digital twins, so the count towards your plan will be the same for both Connect options.

Steps 2A and 2B will show how to progress on the Connect and Connect Batch options respectively.

Step 2A - Regular Connect

This sub-step describes how to progress with the Connect option, as described above - skip to 2B if you are to use the Connect Batch option instead.

  1. Ensure you have completed the pre-requisite steps above, and that you specified the correct amount of Passports in the Passport creation page to be connected with the digital twins.

  2. Click "Connect" as shown below

3. Choose the correct digital twins you've previously created, and click "Done". Note that one Product Passport connects to one digital twin.

4. You've now successfully connected the selected digital twins to your passports, being confirmed in the Column "Connected to digital twins" as shown below:

Step 2B - Connect Batch

This sub-step describes how to progress with the Connect Batch option, as described above - go back to 2A if you are to use the Connect option instead.

  1. Ensure you have completed the pre-requisite steps, and that you specified only one Passport on the Passport creation page.

  2. Click "Connect batch" as shown below

3. Choose the digital twins you've previously created, and click "Done". In this case, we're connecting a batch of 250 Digital Twins to the Passport:

4. You've now successfully connected the batch of digital twins to your Passport, being confirmed in the Column "Connected to digital twins" as shown below. Note that you can click "View Details" to review and confirm the number of twins connected for later reference:

5. On the details page, you see that 250 Digital Twins are batch connected. Tip: You also see you can download the QR code from the dedicated button:
